South Florida Wreath Making

unnamed

Holiday time is near and we thought, what better way to ring it in with a wreath making workshop!  Not only did we learn to make stunning wreaths, we used all native South Florida plants!  Our goal was to have guests walk away with the knowledge to create a simple and elegant wreath from their own garden clippings.

Our guests found their way through the luminary lit gardens of a fabulous 1920’s Miami Shores Spanish Mediterranean home.  The outdoor cabana was where we gathered around a banquet table adorned with supplies such as floral wire, garden sheers and candlelight.  It was one of those beautiful South Florida evenings where the sky was clear, the air was cool and there was a sweet smell of jasmine whispering around.  Time to get to work.

After a brief tutorial, we showered the table with clusia and podocarpus clippings.  Next came the eucalyptus and israeli ruscus.  Guests got to work creating their own personal floral art.  It was fun to watch each wreath unfold.  Finally, the finishing touch; guests were provided with a choice between a burlap, red or plaid bow.

Each wreath was lovely, in its own special way.

How-To Make the Easiest DIY Take-Away Gift for your Holiday Gatherings

We purchased clear glass globe ornaments and inserted a cinnamon stick and podocarpus sprig inside to always remember the experience.  We tied a ribbon and thank you tag to the top and placed them in a treasure box for guests to take as they left for the evening.  A simple and inexpensive way to say thank you.
